The Council of Legal Education Law Schools are zoned for the admission of students from participating territories of the West Indies.

Persons ordinarily resident in Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, Jamaica, Montserrat, and St. Kitts and Nevis should apply to the Norman Manley Law School. Applicants ordinarily resident in other participating territories should apply to the Hugh Wooding Law School or the Eugene Dupuch Law School, as applicable.

Applicants applying on the basis of an LLB degree from The University of the West Indies should proceed directly to the full application process through the Online Admissions Portal.

Applicants must create and verify their Portal account, complete all required sections, upload the required documents, provide referee information, pay the application fee and submit the completed application by the stated deadline.

To be eligible for direct admission, applicants must be in possession of an approved qualification. The approved qualifications are:

An LLB degree from the University of the West Indies.

An LLB degree from the University of Guyana provided that:

• The holder of the degree is a national of Guyana
• The degree was awarded in 1998 or afterwards
• The holder is included in the list of 25 graduates provided to the Council of Legal Education

Applicants must submit the following with their online application

• Original transcript sent directly from the institution, addressed to the Registrar of the Norman Manley Law School.
• Certified copy of Birth Certificate
• Certified Copy of Passport
• Deed Poll and, or Marriage Certificate, if there has been a name changes
• Three Passport Sized Photograph Taken Within the Last Six Months
• Non-refundable and Non-transferable Application Fee of US$15.00. This should be paid via Bank Draft/Manager’s Cheque in US$. This should be made payable to the Norman Manley Law School and must accompany the completed application.
• Cash or equivalent currencies will not be accepted.
• Any other supporting documents requested.

Two references should be submitted in support of your application. The Regulations require that a referee must be one of the following:

• A judge of superior Court; or
• An Attorney-At-Law of at least seven years’ experience; or
• A Magistrate with a minimum of three years’ experience: or
• A Principal of an Educational Institution; or
• A Medical Doctor who has been registered to practice for at least seven years

All Non-UWI Applicants for any of the three law schools are processed by the Norman Manley Law School

Non-UWI applicants should expect a decision on their applications by the 31st August 2026.

Applicants applying on the basis of a law degree or professional qualification obtained outside The University of the West Indies must first complete a pre-application through the Online Admissions Portal.

The pre-application collects information about the applicant’s institution, qualification, degree classification, graduation year and country. The Admissions Office will review this information to determine whether the applicant satisfies the minimum requirements to proceed. Eligible applicants will then be invited to complete the full application.

Non-UWI applicants may also be required to sit the annual entrance examination conducted by the Council of Legal Education, in accordance with the applicable admission requirements.
