The Council of Legal Education Law Schools are zoned for the admission of students from participating territories of the West Indies.

• Persons ordinarily resident in Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, Jamaica, Montserrat, and St. Kitts and Nevis should apply to the Norman Manley Law School.
• Applicants ordinarily resident in other participating territories should apply to the Hugh Wooding Law School or the Eugene Dupuch Law School, as applicable.

Persons applying on the basis of an LLB degree awarded from The University of the West Indies, should proceed directly to the Online Admissions Portal, and complete the application process.

Applicants must create and verify their Portal account, complete all required sections, upload the required documents, provide referee information, pay the application fee and submit the completed application by the stated deadline.

To be eligible for direct admission, applicants must be in possession of an approved qualification. The approved qualifications are:

• An LLB degree from the University of the West Indies

Applicants must submit the following with their online application:

A Certified copy (JP, or Notary Public) of:

• Birth Certificate.
• Passport.
• Deed Poll and, or Marriage Certificate, if there has been a name change.
• Adoption Certificate.
• One Passport Sized Photograph Taken Within the Last Six Months.
• Non-refundable and Non-transferable Application Fee of US$15.00 that can be paid online through the portal. The Fee MUST be paid in US$.
• Bank Draft/Manager’s Cheque in US$. This should be made payable to the Norman Manley Law School. Proof of payment must accompany the application.
• Cash, or equivalent currencies will not be accepted.

Two references should be submitted in support of your application. The Regulations require that a referee must be one of the following:

• A judge of superior Court; or
• An Attorney-At-Law of at least seven years’ experience; or
• A Magistrate with a minimum of three years’ experience: or
• A Principal of an Educational Institution; or
• A Medical Doctor who has been registered to practice for at least seven years

A standard letter can be requested from the Registrar’s Office to facilitate persons’ international visa applications, based on the duration of the programme. Persons should contact the Registrar’s office to make these requests.

Applications for admission open on Nov 1, 2026, and close on Jan 31st, 2027.

All required sections of the online application, with supporting documents and the application fee, must be submitted by the closing date.

The school should be in receipt of references by the second week of February.

All Non-UWI Applicants for any of the three Law Schools are processed by the Norman Manley Law School on behalf of the Admissions Board.

Non-UWI applicants should expect a decision on their applications by the 31st August 2026.

Applicants applying on the basis of a law degree or professional qualification obtained outside The University of the West Indies must first complete a pre-application through the Online Admissions Portal.

The application collects information about the applicant’s institution, qualification, degree classification, graduation year and country. The Admissions Board will review this information to determine whether the applicant satisfies the minimum requirements to proceed, subject to the availability of space. Eligible applicants will then be advised on how to proceed.

Non-UWI applicants may also be required to sit the annual entrance examination conducted by the Council of Legal Education, in accordance with the applicable admission requirements.
