Welcome to the Norman Manley Law School (NMLS).
NMLS boasts of a rich history in equipping our graduates with the knowledge, skills, and values of the legal profession, enabling a cadre of excellent legal practitioners, to provide advice and representation to our nationals and institutions across the Caribbean community on matters that are of importance to them.
Our students are privileged to be taught by eminent jurists and senior practitioners, and our legal aid clinic provides experiential learning for our students who are faced with real-life situations and clients as part of the training programme.
A robust advocacy and mooting program has enabled the school to excel at the local, regional and international stage. This is evidenced by winning for four consecutive years (2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013) the World Human Rights Mooting Competition. Securing second place (2017) at the Philip C. Jessup International Mooting Competition, as well as winning the Margaret Forte Regional Mock Trial Competition for eight out of the last nine competitions. The school has proudly held the winning trophy for the Caribbean Court of Justice Mooting Competition on five occasions (2009, 2016 and 2018,2022 and 2023) since its inauguration in 2009.
NMLS has been responsible for the oversight of the West Indian Law Journal (WILJ) on behalf of the Council of Legal Education for over three decades, a publication of excellent quality and one that has been a source of great learning for generations of lawyers.
NMLS has undoubtedly positioned itself as the go-to institution for exceptional legal training and education, service and scholarship. it is equipped to embrace a changing landscape, as legal education and the legal profession transforms.
